So I know I beat Dragonquest 11 again after a while. But the ending made me realize there are basically 3 Timelines as a result of the game:
Timeline 1: Lord of shadows defeated and Luminary leaves timeline: basically the timeline in which Yggdrasil fell, then got fixed but countless people died including Veronica. The Luminary leaves that timeline in order to save Veronica and fix all the damage done by failing to stop the rise of the Lord of shadows. That world now doesn’t have a Luminary or a Sword of light. Sure it’s not the Worst thing, but it is sucky. But at least Calasmos was destroyed by the lord of shadows before he was restored
Timeline 2: Luminary uses the Sword of shadows (the lord of shadows weapon) to stop Jasper’s sneak attack, and stops mordegon from becoming the lord of shadows. But as a result had to fight a full power Calasmos. But the hero succeeds and returns the super sword of light to Yggdrasil.
Timeline 3: Serenica is able to go back in time and save Erdwin. She also had some of the Luminary power which may have helped in defeating Calasmos. We don’t know details.
And since we know that Serenica’s meddling doesn’t retcon the entire game, it means that MULTIVERSE Theory of time travel.
So the Erik, Sylvando, Serena, Jade, Rab, and Hendrik you knew are not the same as the ones in act 3. The Luminary basically abandoned them. He only realizes that AFTER Serenica smashes the Orb.
So as far as the Comrades from Act 2 know, he is trapped in time forever and that the plan failed. Man that must be super depressing to, because that basically means that the world lost the hero. It’s a grimmer world.
