So I know people have drawn a lot conclusions on what happened when Dracula took Jonathan to bed, and I wanted to give my 2 opinions:
Firstly, I think Dracula tried to see if the ladies had bitten him anywhere and spoiled his "fun". The reason I think this is because as Jonathan notes, his diary is still in tact, and was not confiscated. Dracula was more in a hurry to get the clothes off than inspecting what was in them.
On the other hand, I also have to wonder if Dracula is trying to replicate how a man from his time period would have gotten ready for bed? Because throughout most of history, people just slept in their undershirts/shifts. The concept of pajamas is relatively new for the Victorian era. So for Dracula, trying to make Jonathan feel like maybe he just dreamt the whole thing, got him in bed the same way some nobleman would have done so hundreds of years ago. It would also explain the clothes being folded and kept in an orderly fashion.
Either way, I don't think Dracula has fed on Jonathan yet, and he is still interested in playing this game of keeping appearances with him. When the time comes I think we will all, unfortunately, be able to tell.
