“A patronus is a reflection of the caster. Their innermost person, their hidden self, their desires. It knows and allows its caster to be known. Let your patronus come to you, let it teach you something about yourself.”
The feeling is so familiar, like warm hands sliding lightly down his body, caressing and protective. Ever since he cast it for the first time, the memories have been similar, almost urgent. He has always grasped for those moments of the past, of his parents, his family.
Those memories are still with him, still offer him that warmth, but they’re shared now with something softer, patient, and most importantly, present still. A happiness that doesn’t have to exit with the spell or the memories.
Harry thinks of warmth and safety and spending all night in the library laughing and avoiding Madame Pince with his friends. And then of the friendship he never imagined he’d have or even want. He thinks of that first night in the common room, holding twin hot chocolates in each hand and coming to rest by the fire. He thinks of forgiveness and apologies and powdered snow and white staticked hair. And a smile. That smile.
The feeling is new and yet, so, so familiar. It washes over him before the silver mist forms in front of him and turns into the stag he knows so well.
“Let the patronus feel. Do not try to control it. Let yourself be known.”
Unlike most times, Harry lowers his wand and lets the stag bow his head in return. The creature trots slowly first, in circles around him, then it turns and Harry watches as it wanders with intent over to Draco who seems to be struggling with his own charm.
The stag nudges him gently and Draco pauses. His eyes meet Harry’s. They brighten. The warmth only grows stronger. Then he lays a careful hand on the deer’s head and allows the deer to press closer to him.
Harry smiles. He stares and the warmth blooms. And for maybe too many moments, he allows himself to be known.
Then Harry shakes his head and walks over to see where he can help in Draco’s struggle.

I love this pair, for this day of the Drarry Week I chose Modern AU. Here Draco and Harry are strolling in the streets of London, carelessly sharing a moment. I like to think in this AU Draco is a college professor and Harry is a famous rugby player. What do you think? @drarry-week
Harry forgot to put away his auror potions, sadly Draco has to deal with the consequences after drinking some polyjuice by accident. I bet Harry will sleep in the dog house tonight.
