Here's an interesting thought that grabbed me this morning. XD
Been thinking about Ericka telling Ford about Martha. Either as part of the whole Bill thing (I got this REALLY cruel idea that Bill would take HER form to convince Drac to make a deal. It's either her, Ericka, or Mavis and Martha would be the cruelest and most interesting one.) or explaining why Drac doesn't fully trust him.
This was interesting to do for 2 reasons. I figure Ford would be shocked both because of his own past with his fingers, his genuine love of weirdness and the supernatural, and his reaction to Bill's dimension being destroyed. And it's interesting to contrast Drac and Johnny's version of the story with Ericka's. I ended up kind of making her version here a mix of the legend, what she's learned, her own conflicting feelings, and the real story. Where Drac kinda focuses on the pain and anger of the moment, Ericka talks a bit more about the love and highlights the unfairness of it.
Alot of people make the angst about jealousy between Ericka and Martha or her feeling like she can never measure up yo Drac's first love when I think a more interesting angle is A. That's probably more something OTHERS imposed on her by comparing her to Martha (especially negatively, all the "Martha was better, Ericka's ugly and weird" crowd.) and B. She views Martha as important and family because Drac and Mavis do, actually admires what she did for them, but her feelings of "I'm upset these people hurt my family" and her love of and desire to help and protect Drac and Mavis are conflicted with the knowledge and guilt that only about 7 years ago she felt the same way the mob did about vampires. So I kinda feel it's more interesting if it's less Martha VS Ericka first love vs second love jealousy and who Drac loves more and more Ericka's love and protectiveness for her family vs her regrets, shame and guilt about her old self.
Also nice to actually take my own crack at the dramatic shot of them looking up at the painting and doing my version of the painting.
Note: It's even better since Ford not only was bullied for his Polydactyly being called a freak and thus feels at home with a relates to weirdness but Ford and Stan are also Jewish too, just like Drac, Martha, and Mavis are coded to be (and Genndy and Sandler are.) Not to mention what happened to Stan (even if Ford didn't actually SEE it.)
