Project Update: Steel Falcon - A B&M Hypercoaster
A 2nd teaser for Steel Falcon is up. The ride is nearly complete.
Project Update: Steel Falcon - A B&M Hyper Coaster Finally getting back to Steel Falcon. I am comfortable with the layout, though some banking adjustments need to be made. I adjusted the height a bit (12 feet taller), and have begun work on the supports.
10 Years Ago Today: Vicious - A B&M Stand-Up Coaster
Ten years ago today, I released Vicious, a B&M stand-up coaster. I was particularly proud of this one, as it was the 1st time I relied almost exclusively on custom supports in NoLimits 1. It is all kinds of wonky, as far as the track smoothing and element shaping is concerned, but I was extremely proud when I finished it.
New Project: Aethon - A B&M Inverted Coaster
Aethon was a mythical creature of Greek mythology - the eagle that tormented the titan Prometheus for all eternity, after he gave fire to mankind. This will be my 2nd real attempt at an inverted coaster in NoLimits 2. Aethon is a big ride - drawing inspiration from Banshee at Kings Island. Thus far, there is a giant zero-g roll and an Immelman loop. I am thinking there will be a cobra roll somewhere, and a couple of corkscrews. I am also thinking about doing a double loop - which I think is a first for a B&M invert. It would be a reference to Aethon’s mission of torment - Aethon flew down from Olympus and ate Prometheus’s liver, which grew back everyday, and Aethon came down and ate everyday. A never ending loop of suffering.
Blast From The Past: Helldorado - A GCI Wooden Coaster
10 Years Ago Today, I released Helldorado, a massive GCI wooden coaster. This ride... I can’t explain what I was thinking with it. It’s just huge and not really all that GCI-esque. The ride is over 6,100 feet long, 165 feet tall, reaches a top speed of 68 mph, and is just INSANE! I made a note that it got a Silver Medal at the now-defunct CoasterSims website at the time of its release - being the 2nd highest rated ride that week. Whatever my motivations for making this thing, it is truly a crazy ride! I may have to give this one the NL2 treatment.
10 Years Ago Today: The New Excalibur Ten years ago today, I released The New Excalibur - a giant mine train ride loosely based on Excalibur, an Arrow mine train ride at Valleyfair Amusement Park in Shakopee, MN. For me, it was my attempt to make a version of Excalibur that was smoother, longer, and more intense than the original. Rumor has it that Valleyfair’s Excalibur will not be around much longer. I was and still am very proud of this ride.
Blast From The Past: Inferno - A B&M Floorless Coaster
Five years ago I released Inferno - a B&M floorless coaster. At the time, I was very pleased with myself that I was able to make a 6-inversion coaster in a relatively compact layout. I also recall tunnel-testing the crap out of this thing, as that was the only way to do a clearance test in NL1. The ride stands 158 feet tall, is 3,819 feet long, and features 6 inversions: a diving loop, vertical loop, cobra roll, and 2 corkscrews.
Blast From The Past: DRB Diamondback
10 Years Ago Today I posted DRB Diamondback, a GCI wooden twister coaster. The ride is 2,981 feet long, 120 feet tall, and reaches a top speed of 56 mph. It was my first attempt at a wood/steel hybrid - wood track with a steel support structure.
