New Project: Aethon - A B&M Inverted Coaster
Aethon was a mythical creature of Greek mythology - the eagle that tormented the titan Prometheus for all eternity, after he gave fire to mankind. This will be my 2nd real attempt at an inverted coaster in NoLimits 2. Aethon is a big ride - drawing inspiration from Banshee at Kings Island. Thus far, there is a giant zero-g roll and an Immelman loop. I am thinking there will be a cobra roll somewhere, and a couple of corkscrews. I am also thinking about doing a double loop - which I think is a first for a B&M invert. It would be a reference to Aethon’s mission of torment - Aethon flew down from Olympus and ate Prometheus’s liver, which grew back everyday, and Aethon came down and ate everyday. A never ending loop of suffering.
Batman: The Ride
Six Flags: Great Adventure
While the coaster for Batman at Six Flags is just an average inverted unthemed coaster - the queue is pretty cool.
I can't wait to see you again, Raptor, my dear (Not my photo; all rights to owner)
Took my father to Busch Garden's for his first visit in about 30 years! We rode one roller coaster during our visit, and it was Montu. Montu was freshly out of maintenance and now has some lovely cushions on the train. It is certainly more comfortable this way! It also seems that there has been work on the trim break before the batwing, as it feels much faster and much more forceful as you run through it. Montu once again is back to quite possibly the best coaster in the park!
She is even more gorgeous from the back 😼
After Montu's chain lift, you reach a sharp left turn and you glide down the 128 ft. drop, into the rides first inversion; a 104 ft. tall vertical loop.
