Dream Project: Bo Ra! Deborah cardigan
I already mentioned this cardigan in my cardigan plans post. It's worn by Yoo In-Na in the kdrama Bo Ra! Deborah, also known as True To Love. It appears in quite a sad scene, but when I saw it I completely forgot about what was happening and started screenshotting like crazy.
I've decided to recreate it using the Robinson Wrap Cardigan pattern by Florence Miller. The cardigan in the drama is clearly seamed but the pattern I chose has a raglan construction. I don't really care about the differences, but it's of course going to change the way the stripes behave on the shoulders.
I've selected Drops Flora and Drops Silk-Kid in cream (panna) and black. I've just spent a little fortune to order it online, so I sure hope it's as soft as the reviews say! I bought way more than the pattern required. Knowing myself I will either use way less or way more yarn than expected and I really didn't want to take chances with the yarn lot, especially since it's an online purchase! I'm sure I'll find other ways to use these yarns if I have a lot left.
To make the Robinson Wrap Cardigan more similar to the one featured in the drama, I will:
Increase the number of stitches increased at the edges of the yoke to have the V neck stop higher on the chest. In the pattern, it says M1 at every side per round. I'll experiment with M2 and M3 and then decide.
Knit a longer rib at the bottom.
Knit a narrower double-knitted button band. I've never knit a button band before so I don't know if it will be possible. But I sure will try!
Find a different way to do the tie fastening than i-cord, so that it will look more ribbon-ish.
Knit a size up so it's not as close fitted
Will I find myself in a Ship of Theseus situation by the end? Oh well.
So, that's the plan. I'm very excited. If you want to follow along with this project, I'll be using the tag "deborah cardigan".
Hopefully, the yarn will get her by the time I'm done with my current projects (aroace sweater and pair of socks). Also, hopefully, someone will be home to get the package.
(Woe me, I've spent so much money!)
