Dream Snake Commission - Dreki Ormur

Dream snakes are feathered serpents who use their long bodies to swim through the air at night, snapping up nightmares while you sleep. This was a really fun custom order based on a super cool existing character fused with my original dream snake head design!

This piece was a commission, but I’ll have lots of new work available at Anthrocon July 4-6th!

featherattle (JPハネハブ/Hanehabu) is a dreamer found in the swarm swamps in pumpkin rot, chapter 6 of needle travels. it is a common enemy unique to the area. it is a dream snake with green scales, large eyes with reddish irises, prominent fangs, a red crystal gem, white feathers with red and orange zigzag patterns, two separate orange zigzag lines on its body, dark wings, 'nd three red crystal spheres at the end of its tail. it is a dreamer of stark contrasts. 'cause it lives exclusively in pumpkin rot, its demeanour reflects the melancholy of an ecosystem slowly rottin' away due to sinsun 'nd his laboratories. it moves with almost regal elegance, considerin' its feathers 'nd gem sacred treasures that cleanse the stench of sinsun's labs. it doesn't attack out of malice, but out of fear that strangers will damage the crops and seedlin's in its territory. it hisses the letters S, C (soft), and Z in an exaggerated way, its tone slow, poetic, 'nd polemical. it ends its sentences with a rhythmic pattern of three short hisses that mimic the sound of its three red spheres. in the japanese translation, it uses an ancient 'nd solemn dialect, classic of guardian spirits, replacin' common verb endin's with searing 'nd drawn-out hisses like 「～しゅ」 or 「～しゃ」, and uses the archaic pronoun (吾/wave) to refer to itself. its name, featherattles, is a combination of "feather" 'nd "rattlesnake." its Japanese name (ハネハブ/Hanehabu) comes from (羽/Hane) and (飯匙倩/Habu), which refers to a venomous snake from okinawa. in the main story, the featherattles appear fer the first and only time in the swarm swams area. here, they appear as common enemies, 'metimes hiding in mounds of mud and leaves to sleep. however, when the party talks to the mounds, the featherattles emerge, frightened, thus initiatin' an encounter with the party. some featherattle NPCs can be seen as small guardians in certain handmade yurts. they seem quite concerned 'bout sinsun's labs and say that these facilities must be destroyed. 'fter bein' recruited, these dreamers will appear at the spooky cafe in the pumpkin palace as newly recruited dreamers. the featherattles congratulate the party fer destroyin' 'me of sinsun's labs. a featherattle will also be seen in the pumpkin palace's art workshop, paintin' with its tail like a brush. it will say that art is like life, and how art imitates life itself. their stats are 753 HP, 20 attack, and 0 defence. their dojo fighterZ card reads as follows: type of bein': dreamer. elements: fire, brave. categories: dream snake, plant guardian, winged snake, red gem, melancholic being. description: "a dream snake who is a guardian, who, 'lthough useless 'nd melodramatic, at least is there tryin' to help its dream world. it cares a lot 'boot the ecosystem it is trying to save"

oooooooh i just found a CB white lipped python. i’ve wanted one... for years and years. i’ve dreamed of having once since at least 2016. do... do i get her? oh no. im about to move. putting together another tank while i move would be tough.

Y'all, my fiancé got me one of my dream pythons for Christmas 😭 I'm crying, he's so beautiful. I need naming assistance! I am currently stumped! Here's the rest of our crew to get a feel for the type of names we go for:

Tiamat - leopard gecko - Babylonian goddess

Fenris - albino cali king snake - DragonAge elf

Arês - kitty cat - god of war, Odessy spelling intentional

Leo - kitty cat - for the constellation

Tali - doggo - Tali'Zorah, Mass Effect

We also have Olive (bun) & Lily (pupper) but they are my precious girls that didn't really stick to the overall fantasy theme lmao.
