Maekar sitting next to Daeron's bed after the maesters stitch his cheek and ear and just watching him sleep in silence
Daeron is so still. Sleeping without a sound, without whimpers or quiet sobs or terrified mumbles. Maekar had asked the maester go give him something for the pain of his injuries, it seems to be working to soothe his ever aching soul as well. At least for a moment
He reaches out and slowly traces the red, angry looking scar on Daeron's cheek
He feels... a grieving sort of sadness in his chest at the sight of it
His oldest son, the mirror image of his beloved wife; ruined
Dyanna had no scars on her face or anywhere visible. Before this cursed day, neither did Daeron
Now half of his ear is gone, and his face has been marked permanently. What a terribly big scar it is as well
Maekar hates the sight of it
He loves the face of his boy, the face of her, but he hates the scar
