Physical description: Dreamfoil, much like Silversage, is a hearty herb only found in extreme environments. It is largely found in either arid or marsh-like regions, both on Azeroth and in Outland. It is most commonly found on Azeroth in areas of fel corruption, such as Felwood and around the dark portal of the Blasted Lands. It is notably found in the dead mire of Zangarmarsh, a parched swath of the vast, deep blue wetland drained by the Coilfang naga. This suggests that the plant’s seeds have long nested in the earth, and require environmental fluctuation to sprout. Dreamfoil is thought to have originated from Zangarmarsh, and spread terrestrially to Azeroth during the Outland campaign. This woodvine is curious in that it will climb around plants or trees nearby, but does not strangulate them or rob them of their nutrients, as many other vines do. It is an exquisite herb in appearance, boasting opulent, pendulous blooms practically overflowing with small flowers- which resemble the flowers of a pea. The blooms are a milky light indigo, their pollen an iridescent powder which falls over the entirety of the plant in a shimmering dusting. This causes the rounded, compound emerald leaves of the herb to glint in light, and is likely in part why the plant is thusly named- the other being the alchemical properties it possesses. The herb will likely be noticed by the nose as well as the eyes- the very smell of Dreamfoil is intoxicating, a delicious sweetness which perfumes the air around it quite strongly. It is somewhat like the smell of a Gardenia bush in bloom. When in seed, the vine produces fuzzy, yellow-green pods with five to seven seeds within.
Described usage: Dreamfoil flowers are highly sought after due to their resplendent beauty and sweet smell. Animals do not feed on it, yet seem to be drawn to its scent. The flowers can be dried and hung above the bed to ward against nightmares and insomnia. Alchemically, the seeds have a rather interesting usage. Crushed and combined with elemental water or shadow oil, they provide protection against frost and shadow magicks, respectively. Burning the crushed seeds upon an elemental flame will provide protection against fire or burning, whereas breathing them in tandem with elemental air provides warding from holy magicks. Grinding the seeds with elemental earth and water prevents the infliction of nature magicks, and can also be applied in a thick paste to snake or spider bites as an antivenin. A tincture of the blooms and leaves provides various aspects of wisdom or magical restoration, which can be strengthened further by Icethorn or Sorrowmoss water. The latter concoction, aptly named Elixir of the Sages, is remarkable in treating senility and mental fog. The vine is said to be used in druidic cleansing rituals as a whole, to guide the spirit and strengthen the mind.
