Apparently self-portraits in the style of the Spirit Phone album art is a thing that people do... I have several cats, but Batman (a rescue cat that I’ve had for about four years now) is MY cat. He is sitting on my lap right now, in fact... He adopted me more than I did him, we’re inseparable! He’s getting up there in age, probably around 16 years old by estimation. He sleeps on my pillow, follows me when I get up and go to another room, and cries at the window when I leave the house! :( It’s an amazing thing to be so loved by a cat. He’s clearly had a long, hard life--he’s missing teeth, he’s covered with burn scars, and he’s got a deformed rib cage from having been hit by a car! I don’t know how many years I have left with him, but every moment is precious. He got really sick last year and I thought we were going to lose him, but he’s a fighter! I figured it was only right that I take the opportunity to draw him to be able to look back on in the future. I drew this while listening to nothing but Lemon Demon, I think it shows. Finding out that Neil Cicierega is the one that wrote “Gonna Get Weird” totally blew my mind... As it turns out, if you want people to think of you as someone who draws lots of undead spooky stuff, you have to actually post some spooky stuff... This is no character in particular, though inspired by a D&D death-cleric of mine named Clove--as well as having listened to Ghost’s discography on repeat, exclusively, for the last two months. 🙃

I was inspired by this post by tumblr user as-routine-as-hunger and the Villains animatic by Francesca Ross (arazmis on tumblr).
The symbolism of the new logo is equally delicious, so I added that in the shadows.
