A Closer Encounter
The main topic of discussion at the impromptu discussion conference taking place in Nightless City was a guai. A specific guai, of course, one that had been wreaking havoc far longer than might be reasonably expected. Surely such a thing was easily handled by sect cultivators, everyone agreed, even one as large and yet hard to locate as this one was reported to be. It couldn’t be a surprise that all of the rogue cultivators who had been hired to deal with it had failed. The sects should have been involved from the beginning, everyone agreed, conveniently ignoring the fact that none of the sects who had been contacted about the matter had chosen to respond - it was just a guai, after all.
Since the guai had been reported throughout the region, cultivators from multiple sects would be tasked to deal with it. Two or three experienced cultivators from each of the Great Sects and perhaps a few from the more prominent minor sects would work together to eliminate the danger. Each sect would determine who they would send, of course. The chosen cultivators would meet in two weeks’ time in Nightless City, unless the guai was discovered elsewhere in that time.
