I'm taking a break from everything I'm trying to adjust with my 3D modeling projects and other things in general to show you the birthday gift I made for my younger brother.
I asked him for a list of his favorite characters, and the name GIR (Invader Zim) was on the list. Of the entire list, he was the easiest character to complete, and the fastest given my limited time due to my new job and the fact that I'm still working on commissions with almost no time to rest.
Well, when it came to creating the 3D model, I wanted it to be as faithful to the series' design as possible and to include as many of GIR's gadgets as I could find. In addition to that, I now have a more Low/Mid Poly approach to 3D modeling, but I'm currently attempting to create 3D models with a polygon range similar to those used by the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and I succeeded (I think).
Without the outline, the character is composed of 6,020 Tris, and with the outline, that number doubles. That makes it look less Mid Poly, but it still retains that aesthetic, which at the end of the day is what matters.
Later today or tomorrow afternoon/evening, the 3D model will be available for free download on Itch.io, Ko-fi, Gumroad, and Sketchfab. I hope you enjoy this 3D model as much as I enjoyed making it and as much as my younger brother is enjoying it, which is, after all, his birthday present.
