His fist tightened on the haft of his axe, though he didn’t draw it. Not yet. Eivald would give the signal to attack; until then, Rorn’s axe would remain where it was. He knew the anger that burned in his heart was an anger Eivald could lay claim to as well. A shared clan, a shared mother. 

Shared anger for shared loss. 

“I’ve had enough of their existence,” Eivald said softly, all humor gone from his voice. 

As one, the clan rose from their crouched positions and drew weapons. 

Eivald turned his head towards Rorn as they ran from the field towards the fort. “With me?” 

“With you,” Rorn confirmed with a nod. Even had their mother not tasked him with the duty of protecting his younger brother, his heart had already decided that his place was at Eivald’s side.

Finally got my own axe and sheild made
