When life throws curve ball after curve ball, you can quickly feel like you are overflowing with stress. If you want to feel less overwhelmed, there are some simple things you can do that help to release stress, leaving you feeling stronger to face the challenges in front of you. Some of the most effective stress relievers are the first ones we let slide when we’re not feeling good. But those are the things that help us to maintain some wellbeing in tough times. Whether it be exercise, time with friends, meditation or creative hobbies, these activities are often seen as indulgent. They are, in fact, essential for helping to prevent overwhelm and burnout. The non-negotiables are the actions that need to happen on a regular basis to maintain good mental health. There are certain behaviours that we always make time for because we perceive them as essential for good health, such as brushing our teeth. But when it comes to behaviours that nurture our mental health, our perception of them as indulgent, means they get left off the list when we are busy. What will you put on your list of non-negotiables? .
