Karin, 

I know things have never been easy, and certainly, I'm sure you're awake right now as I'm writing this. But throughout the years I've known you, you've always been like a mother to me. And I know you say we're all like that and while that's true, you really did take care of me like my mother used to before I lost her those years ago. You helped me when I doubted myself, stuck with me through the mission using Cerberus, and stuck with me until this moment before Earth. Helping me sober up and willing to do it with me... It's more than I could've asked for from my med bay doctor. You've pulled me out of wounds that probably could've killed any other normal person. Again, I'm thankful to have known you for all this time, and I'd never want to forget that.

Things are looking difficult up ahead; I don't know how it's going to end, if it's going to end at all, but I need to ask a few things of you. If things don't go well, promise me you'll keep an eye on Ashley and Joker. I know it might not be for too long, but at least for a while after I'm gone. If I don't come back, I want you to know I'd never felt I could have had a replacement for those I lost, but you did a damn good job of making me feel cared for. 

And if I don't make it, know I'll be waiting in whatever afterlife with a bottle of ice brandy; I think after all this, we'll be allowed a bit of booze.
