As a prompt: smooshie getting a little sibling that looks like that robot in that last video you put on here (the round one with cute voice that activates your cuddle mode)

- Rescued from a junk heap by Elakka, repaired by the Nerd Sisters- A little assistant droid from the Jopanna Moons, it can pop a little “hand” out of its top in order to carry trays and such while it walks- Everyone argues over naming it, then it names itself Panel for reasons no one can figure out- lol Triad would be so jealous- Until she realizes that makes her “Big Sister” as well and that means getting to boss the newbie around- Laika loves chasing it, it loves rolling away from Laika. “Wheeeeee!”- Also loves following Triad and Smooshy like a duckling- Out of the bipedal members of the crew, it loves Keith most, much to his and everybody else’s confusion

I think you've already done Thaichia shedding or molting already, So how about Traid doing it, in a sort of this is my new exterior plating which after much data and material collecting is far superior then the older model.

“Huh... never would have expected her to be so interested in a scrap heap.”

“What?”

Ylva handed the long-sight goggles down to Shiro from her perch on a branch above. “See for yourself. She’s been shuffling things around for almost ten cliks.”

Shiro put on the goggles and tweaked the settings. Sure enough, Triad was puttering about the ruins of the smelting factory they’d just finished bombing, picking up bits with her tractor beam and discarding them in an apparent search for something. “What could she possibly- oh shit!”

“What?”

“She just popped off half her casings!”

“Weird... unless... oh!”

“’Oh’? What do you mean ‘oh’?” Shiro asked, lifting up the goggles to look at the scruffy Galra in confusion. 

“This factory was supposed to be trying to replicate Orichian purasteel, right? Because it can take more hits than what we currently use, right?”

Shiro scrunched his nose in thought. “So... she found some?”

“Must’ve. Gimme those back.”

Shiro handed the goggles back up to his mission partner, and she poked her tongue out between her fangs as she readjusted the settings back to her configuration and put them on. “Aha! I was right!”

“So what’s she doing?”

“Reshaping the slabs to her own body.”

He couldn’t help the look of disgust that crossed his face. “You’re telling me our droid just molted?”

“Fascinating, isn’t it?”

“Uh... if you say so.”

This time TRIAD and Thatchai bonding👀👀

jesus yur fast, but fair enough.

Shiro could hear the faint sound of Thatchia purring.

Above him.

“Ugh, you better not be in the vents agai-”  Getting up from the bench he’d been sitting on to clean practice swords, he turned, only to stop short when he came face-to-camera-eye with Triad. “Uh…”

The camera shutter fluttered in the droid’s signal of a ‘giggle’, then the lens tilted up. When he leaned up on his toes to peer at the top of the egg-shaped droid-

“Oh. Very funny, you two,” he said, reaching up to grab Thatchia, who flicked her ears at him and purred louder. 

[[I have learned from Smooshy. Creator Joitree was fond of the same trick.]]

“Yeah, I figure she would have been,” Shiro admitted, a faint smile crossing his mouth as he sat back down and let the puffball shuffle up onto his shoulder. “What else have you been getting up to today?”

[[Small Thatchia is also very helpful in learning sonic navigation of the castleship. I have mapped exactly seventy-three point nine two two per cent of the inner-wall corridors.]]

“Out of the ones you can fit through, huh?” Shiro asked, his grin widening. Thatchia chirped in agreement.

[[Hmph. Now you are the one not being amusing.]]

Family bonding with Triad and Shiran?

Coran bit his tongue and pressed his knuckles to his mouth as he watched Shiro’s left eye twitch faintly. “Comfortable there?” he asked when he was finally sure his voice wouldn’t crack.

“Shut. Up.”

[[I have found another!]] Triad crowed triumphantly, as she popped out of the bushes, a knot of flowers in her tractor beam. Before Shiro could protest, she crushed it into a mass of feathery puffs and dumped them to float gently down into the mass that was currently half drowning him in the tub.

“That’s... that’s really enough, thank you-” Shiro managed in a strangled gasp as he struggled to keep his head above-flower, but Triad was already zooming back off into the forest.

“She is trying to help,” Coran said when Shiro gave him a look.

“Good, I’ll be a nice-smelling corpse when I suffocate.”

Coran snorted, another laugh threatening to get free, then tapped his comm. “Triad, come on back. I think we’ve got plenty to work with for now.”

[[But the venom-!]] Triad protested.

“If we need more, I’ll send you out again, alright?” Coran said, then closed the channel. That done, he stripped off his normal gloves and pulled on some heavy protective ones and got a breathing mask. “How are you doing so far? Nothing’s gotten into your mouth or nose or eyes yet, has it?”

“No, still just itching for now.” Shiro muttered. “It didn’t break skin when it lashed me.”

“Good, we’ve got time to work, then.” Grabbing a handful of wet flower puffs, he began scrubbing at his partner’s skin. “Let me know if you start feeling anything worse than burning.”

Triad appeared moments later, hovering anxiously over the tub as she watched Coran’s motions, camera squinted in concentration. Then her tractor beam activated and also picked up some wet flowers.

“Easy,” Coran warned. “Don’t hurt him.”

He felt Shiro tense nervously as the tractor beam got close and paused, both of them holding their breath. Then Shiro slowly began to ease up. 

“Not bad. Just stay away from my head, okay?”

[[I will be very careful, Father.]]

Satisfied, Coran returned to his work.

49. What are some themes tied to your character’s story?

Triad was originally designed to be the Galra’s ultimate mini weapon. A robot that could both be a master assassin and a WMD. But thanks to the fuckup in her wakeup protocols, she’s very much a free-thinking and growing child. I’ve always been into the idea of an “evil” robot deciding their own destiny (see: Vision, the Iron Giant, Geischt, etc.) but those were all “grownups” in a sense. Triad just wants what fleshy kids take for granted, and if that means blowing a hole in a battleship to protect the family who gave her a birthday party, that’s fine by her.

Not sure if you have already done this. Thatchia purring with anyone (like with cats which thought to help heal). Also Traid joining in trying to recreate the same effect with thier system (when machines start vibrating).

I have a couple (one I forgot to tag, fixing that now) for Thatchia solo, but I don’t mind doing another with Triad.

She watched, hovering silently, as Father tucked his head between his knees and curled in on himself, looking what Papa would call ‘ill’. The motion activated what they called ‘concern’ in her higher neurological circuitry, and she cautiously floated closer. [[Father?]]

He did not seem to hear her. 

Her air pressure sensors took note of the fine tremors in his body and her camera sharpened to see them. ‘Concern’ was beginning to become louder in her circuitry, and she accessed her record banks to find out what she should-

“Murrew.”

Her camera tracked around her body and angled down to find the castle’s resident pet shuffling towards Father. Even with no face to read, the kittekirri’s body language read as ‘determined’, and she watched curiously as the tiny creature squeezed under Father’s arm to shove herself into his lap.

A loud familiar rumble registered on her sound sensors and, slowly, Father unfurled from the knot he had turned himself into, clutching the ball of fluff to his chest.

Interesting. 

It seemed the sound vibration had a positive affect on what unknown circumstance was plaguing Father.

Well, if one vibration source was good, then surely an additional one would increase the positive reaction, she reasoned, and floated over to gently press against his back.

She registered him starting in surprise, then her camera saw him look up over his shoulder. “Triad?”

[[I will assist Thatchia in assisting you, Father]] she replied assertively, then accessed her inner batteries and their secondary nodes, turning up her power usage to a level where it overrode her stealth.

Father started at the mechanical thrumming that emanated from her casing, then a slow smile crossed his face and he reached up to pat her camera. “Thanks, you two.”

Father was getting better. Her neurological circuitry registered ‘pleased’.

She kept humming.

Traid translates for Thatchai. Either legitimately or is messing around with everyone. Or both.

[[Fathers, you will be most proud of me.]]

Shiro looked up from calibrating his bayard and found Triad hovering over Pidge’s control console, Thatchia perched on top of her. He glanced to Coran, who began shutting down some update windows of the navigation controls. “Yeah?” he asked cautiously. “What are we going to be proud of this time?”

If it was another battle droid…

[[I have expanded my language database by seventy-two point three six per cent,]] Triad replied, and if the robot could have puffed up, he was sure she would have. [[Observe.]] A small probe emerged from her side and reached up to poke the kittekirri riding on her.

“Nyeruurrr.”

‘You fed me four bites less meal than last meal,’ read the console screen. ‘Not fair.’

Shiro snorted, and he saw Coran tugging at his mustache in a way that he was now aware meant his partner was holding back his laughter. “Somehow I’m not surprised. Any other complaints?”

“Mwerrr!”

‘The short ones are making stinky air in (unintelligible). It is gross and terrible.’ 

The both of them looked at each other, then frowned. 

“Short ones?”

“Stinky air?”

[[Subjects Ylva and Pidge have been conducting anti-crowd tests in Laboratory Ilkai-Nonai-Yutai for three hours, seven minutes, and fourteen tics.]]

“Oh, hells. Make a note to do a complete sanitation flush as soon as they leave.”

[[Yes, Papa.]]

“Nayaeyrrr!”

‘You should give miss Triad extra eronai batteries for doing such a good job translating!’

Shiro eyed the droid suspiciously. “Oh, really.”

[[Huhuhu.]]

Any information about Traid you could tell us about?

Triad, though smaller than the average Galra attack monster, was originally designed to be their most advanced spy and murder drone to date. She was named for her three modes- Spy- Targeted Kill- Large Scale Devastation

Triad has full stealth capabilities, a number of assassination tools, one of the sharpest and most high-memory cameras ever produced, and in full devastation mode, the entire rotation track her eye moves on becomes a weapon sending out EMP pulses, electricity shorts, or fire, depending on the level of damage she’s ordered to do.

Because of the flub in her activation, however, Triad is much less a mindless tool of war and much more a small child. She likes being talked to, likes mumbling to herself and ‘singing’ to herself, loves music and following her uncle Smooshy and her ‘papas’ around, likes bossing her ‘little sisters’ (she has adopted the Nerd Sisters, despite the fact they built her) around, and throws tantrums. Since she floats, her tantrums usually consist of pissily shutting off her antigravity capability and loudly THUDding to the floor in a demand to be picked up.
