Drone video - @jim_abernethy // While our shark expedition vessel "Shear Water" was tied up at the dock during our recent Oceanic White Tip Expedition at Hawks Nest Marina, Cat Island, I noticed some sharks in the ocean fed river. I put up the drone in order to see them better! Like all marinas wherever fish carcasses are discarded we frequently find sharks! We saw lemon, reef and nurse sharks, although the locals said bulls and tigers are frequently seen there as well! What makes this so mesmerizing is the crystal clear calm waters allowing us to see clearly into their water! Our brilliant Bahamian neighbors had the foresight to protect their sharks...a 120 million dollar yearly economical tourism generator! Here in Florida shark diving tourism brings in 320 million in tourism yearly, so we allow 1.5 million sharks to be killed yearly for the Shark Fin Trade Industry! It just doesn't make sense, especially for a tourism driven state! We must all work harder to ban the Florida Shark Fin Trade Industry! Please go to the link in my bio and help us with thisc as well as other wildlife saving campaigns!
