Dragon’s Dance || Touko & Draze
Touko would be the first one to admit that sometimes - only sometimes - she didn’t make the best decisions. One example would be two years ago when she decided to travel to Snowpoint City, Sinnoh during a blizzard ... with nothing but a pair of sweatpants and a worn jersey to keep warm. In her defense, the weatherman had assured his viewers that the icy roads leading into the city would be clear and sunny; so it wasn’t technically her fault that she was found unprepared at the sudden - and yes, it was sudden - appearance of aforementioned blizzard.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was, the brunette’s judgement sometimes wasn’t the most trustworthy. She had traveled to Jubilife City at the invitation of Professor Juniper to participate in a conference on Pokemon Training. Having nothing better to do and admittedly somewhat curious, she decided to attend the function. It was shortly after arriving into the city did Touko’s bad decision making come into play.
Outside the hotel she had decided on staying at, the young woman overheard a group of trainers talking about the pro’s and con’s of Dragon-type Pokemon. Having a bit of time to spare, Touko casually ambled over to the group to better listen in on the debate. It seemed they were in the city for the conference, if the ongoing conversation was anything to go by; and by the time she realized what exactly she was doing, Touko had already jumped right into the discussion.
“Hydra was the most challenging Pokemon I’ve ever trained,” she admitted in response to a question one of the trainers asked about raising dragon-types, “to be honest, I still struggle with him.” It was after that did things seem to go downhill for the brunette. After admitting to having a dragon on hand, the trainers - who seemed very eager to see the Hydreigon for themselves - pushed for her to release him.
“I don’t know, Hydra isn’t really -”
“Oh, c’mon!” Melinda, a fellow Unovian trainer, quickly interjected, “It’ll be fine! I’m sure you’re just over thinking it. What’s the worst that could happen? He’d bite our heads off?”
The others laughed at that as Touko forced a smile despite her unease. ‘Yes actually,’ with a sigh she reached into her bag for Hydra’s capsule, ‘that’s exactly what I’m afraid of.’ Relenting reluctantly, she clicked the button on the Pokeball and watched as Hydra appeared in a flash of light. The others began chattering excitedly when they caught sight of him, not noticing the look Touko shot at the dragon - nor the one he sent his trainer in return.
