louder than sirens, louder than bells, sweeter than heaven, and hotter than hell
I've been a casual Florence and the Machine fan for about ten years and an intense Locked Tomb fan since July. Yesterday I listened to Drumming Song for the first time in years. The lyrics hit just right for a Harrowhark (specifically Harrow the Ninth) edit/AMV/fancam/whatever the kids are calling it nowadays. I wish I could do digital art. If anyone has time, energy, and skill and wants to do this, that would be sick as hell. Tell me what you think. See below for lyrics and explanation/imagery:
There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an almighty sound
There's a drumming noise inside my head
That throws me to the ground
I swear that you should hear it
It makes such an almighty sound
(Scenes, flashing, of Harrow at the beginning of HtN. She's looking in the mirror, holding the sword, checking her eyes, making bone armor, etc. In the mirror, or the shadow, are gold eyes for just a moment. Famously not having a good time.)
Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell
(Hazy, flashing images of the battle with Cytherea from the end of GtN. A smile. Palamedes going nuclear. An iron fence... Flashing images will be the rule. I'll stop saying it now.)
I ran to a tower where the church bells chime
I hoped that they would clear my mind
They left a ringing in my ear
But that drum's still beating loud and clear
(Scenes of Harrow meeting John, having tea and cookies with him, confessing her family history to him, him turning away from her and brushing it off. Her face looks distraught under the face paint.)
Louder than sirens (louder than sirens)
Louder than bells (louder than bells)
Sweeter than heaven (sweeter than haven)
And hotter than hell (and hotter than hell)
(Flashback sequence of the Ianthe lobotomy scene. Another flash of red and gold. Letters and a pair of sunglasses fall across the screen. We see a hand bone and a romance novel. A brief image of three figures - Cam, Corona, and Judith, with faces somewhat obscured.)
Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell
Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell
(Scenes of life on the Mithraeum. Dinner. Training. Ortus the First attacking her repeatedly. Creating Ianthe's arm. Soup. Making blood wards. "Sweeter than heaven, hotter than hell" has to be Dios Apate Minor, right?)
As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat, it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder
(Flashback sequence of young Harrow running to the Tomb, the doors open, she enters, we see the Body. A flash of red and gold at the doorway. We see Priamhark, Pelleamena, and Mortus holding rope.)
I run to the river and dive straight in
I pray that the water will drown out the din
But as the water fills my mouth
It couldn't wash the echoes out
But as the water fills my mouth
It couldn't wash the echoes out
I swallow the sound and it swallows me whole
'Til there's nothing left inside my soul
I'm as empty as that beating drum
But the sound has just begun
(Cytherea's body. Then it vanishes. Tracking down Ortus and Wake though we don't know/see anything fully. An approaching Resurrection Beast seen through a ship window. Heralds swarming. Harrow running down a corridor, a sword emerging from darkness, a body falling through layers of shadow and landing in front of Drearburh/Canaan House. The two settings flash back and forth, then the screen goes black.)
As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder
(Harrow's face with golden eyes. Either using a different shade of line work or a different color altogether, Gideon's body is superimposed onto Harrow's. The Herald fight. Sunglasses. A few emotionally devastating facial expressions or quotes. You know what I'm thinking of.)
There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an almighty sound
There's a drumming noise inside my head
That starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
It makes such an almighty sound
Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell
Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven
And hotter than hell
(Scenes switch from the River/Wake/Canaan House fight to the conversation/murder with John and the Lyctors to the beat of the music. We see the Living of the River at Canaan House, arrayed and ready to fight. Close ups on glowing Abigail, and Ortus in deep conversation with Harrow, and Harrow crying for Gideon. Sick shots of Wake and her guns. Close ups of Gideon/Pyrrha talking to Gideon, Mercy and Augustine having a quiet second, Pyrrha taking the glasses from Gideon. Interspersed shots of Wake and John dying at the same time. Flash of black. John reforming and then whole. The collapse of the Mithraeum and Varun the Eater. Black screen after Gideon/Harrow disappears into darkness.)
As I move my feet towards your body
I can hear this beat it fills my head up
And gets louder and louder
It fills my head up and gets louder and louder
(No flashes here. Very slow. Golden eyes open out of the blackness. Pan out to Nona smiling at the camera, braids strewn across the scene.)

My music inspiration for this chapter was taken from Drumming Song by Florence and the Machine, from an album I listened to repeatedly when it was first released.
