open starter: set in the aftermath of king rowan’s second passing (0/3) where: sunspear, dorne
The sound of his blade clashing against that of his sparring partner was enough to drown out the noise of the true clashing blades that seemed to haunt the very back of his mind, no matter whether he woke, whether he slept; the sight of those who were so high above it all seemingly ready to throw themselves to the wind, to whatever darkness had awoken with the Falcon King.
And his blade continued to clash, hammer down as he thought of the pouring rain within the Valley of Bronze, how he would have prayed to feel the rain hammer upon him now and wash away the sins it felt like he was drowning in. For his screams into the abyss to be drowned out by what felt like the very veil of time and death itself.
And his blade continued to clash, each movement contained and yet none would know the emotional turmoil that seemed to spur each strike of steel; only the warm face of the King that had wanted a better world, and died for it.
The brother he had failed, in his desperation to save him; he who was never the same once the Stranger had welcomed him with open arms. And how it had been him that had made that choice, that choice not to disarm, not to injure as a Knight of the Vale with his years of training and experience could have done; but the choice to end it all.
End it all, was such a gentle way to speak on what the Kingslayer had done, was it not? His house and his reputation, the legacy of his family, would be tarnished - and they remember. His opponant’s blade was disarmed, sent clattering to the floor and the Hand of the King...which fucking King?
Graham kneeled down to pick up the blade he had clattering to the ground, hand extending for the other to take it, all without saying a word; he was unaware of a set of orbs upon him until suddenly, all at once, he was. The man turned, his breathing heavy as he fixed orbs with the likes before him.

today my colleague who has never seen the movie Cars (2006) said she’s heard it was the same plot as Brokeback Mountain (Lightning McQueen/Mater) but turns out she was thinking of To Wong Foo and NOT Brokeback Mountain

don't mean to be rude but can i ask what exactly would make any robert redemption satisfying and 'good enough' to you, how would you have it be done? and do you think you're in a positition where you can be receptive to any redemption of his? (i say this because you seem to have deep issues and resentment towards the character so maybe you don't want him to be redeemed at all?)
lol dw i love getting asks like this! i do think i would be receptive to a redemption, because if my experience between ‘15-’16 is anything to go by, i went from being pretty unable to imagine tolerating rbron together romantically from a moral pov to being excited when they finally reunited. the reason redemptions tend to feel shallow or not ‘good enough’ a lot of the time is that they (a) never explicitly address the stuff the character is meant to be getting forgiven for -- and not just addressed by the character who did it, but by the characters who were victims of it as well. and (b) if they do, the character often doesn't actually appear to be putting the lessons into practice. i dont feel like they got past step (a) the first time around with robert. I've been railing about it since the dawn of time but the only way i will ever be fully satisfied with a redemption and not unsettled by a reunion is if they finally address the lodge.
i’m not complaining abt the rockies record bc WHY WOULD I but getting shut out is no fun esp against the dodgers and esp when the cubs lost today
