Story - summarized
The Night Witch is not impressed with the baron. She can see through his facade and recognizes him as a Bloodborne, a vampiric creature that feasts on human blood. But unlike other Bloodborne, the baron prefers to target young, innocent girls.
Every spell or task the Night Witch does is to protect herself and protect the village. She knows that the other villagers see her as a freak, and her power isn't quite strong enough to get rid of the Bloodborne for good, but she persists.
But the Night Witch is Celina's repressed self, her true self that is confident and sees the world for what it is. So, she has no choice but to go along with Celina accepting the baron's marriage proposal.
Finally, Celina arrives at the castle. Even she can tell something is off about this place, but she tries to see the good in everything, while the Night Witch recognizes the traps here.
And then the baron shows her the golden keys, warning her about the door at the end of the hallway. But if the Bloodborne is desperate to keep others out, the Night Witch knows she has to check it out.
Her power is strongest on the full moon, so while Celina is asleep, the Night Witch takes over her body and makes her sleepwalk to find the golden key. Monstrous servants try to stop her, but she defeats them every time. When she finally enters the room, she finds lots of dusty mirrors.
Now, the Night Witch can show Celina a tragic memory they share: witnessing Mother's death by burning. Ever since then, Celina did her best to suppress her magic and become normal, thus creating the Night Witch as her own entity. She can see the truth whenever she looks in a mirror.
The Bloodborne finds Celina in the mirror room and tries to kill and eat her there. The Night Witch summons all her strength to break through the mirror and enter this world. She fights the Bloodborne and keeps him at bay, but Celina has used too much magic at once, and also has been terrified this whole time. She falls into a slumber.
The Night Witch waits for Celina to wake up and embrace her past and her true self. Only then will the Night Witch have her full powers, and Celina can finally find peace.
Connections
-The Night Witch is Celina's repressed magic and true thoughts. For Celina's first impressions and "safe" thoughts, read Moonlight Vow, to get a complete picture of who she is.
-It's not clear if the Night Witch and Celina have a relationship similar to Jax and Yuka (two alters sharing a body) or Lilith and Ashley (one born from the other's strong memories). But it's clear that Celina and the Night Witch were one person from the start, and after the events of the Dream Reflection hell, they become two people.
-The first we ever hear of a Bloodborne is in Zoey's Reflection for Fiery Dusk. She shares one of her adventures to fight a Bloodborne in a castle, as part of a contest for the last bottle of wine.
Fun Facts
-During the witch hunts in Europe and America, while witches could have been practicing folk magic or pagan traditions, they also could have been people that the local government thought would cause trouble or not follow the rules. Especially if the person could think for themself and question authority.
-Another target during the witch hunts were mentally ill people. If you were depressed or had autism or (like Yuka) had DID/OSDD, you were considered either cursed or demonic, which justified horrific acts against them. If Celina and the Night Witch were alters, that would explain Celina's desperation to suppress her magic and memories.
