In which I rant about shipping hypocrites and probably lose some followers
Don'tcha love it when everyone's like OMG DON'T SHIP BASH SHIP BASHING IS BAD SHAME ON EVERYONE WHO DOES IT CUZ THEY'RE GOING TO HELL AND SPONGE-BATHING SATAN WHEN THEY GET THERE
and then you see them posting crap like "*insert ship name here*, ugh" and "how you can compare *ship 1* to *ship 2*, it's offensive and makes me want to throw a childish hissy fit".
I was so confused until I realized that I totally and completely forgot that it's evilnastybadandofthedevil to ship bash unless it's against the ship you personally happen to hate. At least that got cleared up for me.
I'm sorry if I sound angry. But tolerance is a TWO WAY DOOR. How can you expect others to tolerate your ship if you don't tolerate them back?
Yes, I am responding to the anti-Makorra post that's going around, but that was more of the straw that broke the exasperated camel's back.
I see this in EVERY fandom.
I don't really ship anything other than Human!Naga and Human!Pabu in LOK (which should tell you something), but I was happy with the characters and where and with who they ended up at the end, 75% at least.
It's really offensive to say that ship comparisons between Royai and Makorra 'disgust' you--the comparison between a couple with a strong female and strong male who fight together with a strong female and a strong male who fight together disgusts you? Really? There are no similarities there? I love Royai, but can't you accept that someone could love both and just wanted to tie them together somehow?
Most of the time I'm proud of the Zutara fandom (let's just skip the whole way-overblown whitewashing thing) for being so nice when they're not canon, and I guess that means I tend to forget that not all non-canon Avatar ships are as nice as them.
This doesn't mean you can't deconstruct ships, and compare and contrast them, but for heaven's sake, don't take the best examples of love or whatever from one ship with the worst examples of another--that invalidates your argument right there. And it makes me angry.
I apologize if this offends you. I sincerely mean no ill will against the original poster of the post I'm referring to. I do not want to cause a fight, because frankly, I don't have the time, energy, or interest to debate someone whose worldview is so wholly different from my own. If they want to talk to me, they can message me, I have no problem responding.

Tl;dr, anti-shippers, either tag your hate as 'anti-*insert ship name here*' or friggin clean up your act, because it's crap like shipping hypocrisy that starts off friggin ship wars and heaven knows this fandom has had enough of those to want to trap all those haters in an iceberg for a hundred years without a friendly sky bison to help them get home.
Sigh. Where's DrunkZutaraFeels and their 'ship and let ship' screencap-mahjiggy when you need them?
