Left Hip Scope #2 - Day 2

Well, after continuing to degrade over the last 6 months, I finally go my left hip redone by Dr White at Western Orthopedics in Denver.  The MRI showed I had labral tears and significant CAM impingement, despite my prior procedure. 

Once they got into the hip, things were worse than advertised, lots of labral terms, delaminated cartilage and scar tissue from the previous operation.  There was some significant bruising on my labrum itself - which looked exactly like how the pain often felt - diffuse and burning.  

The procedure took 3 hours and resulted in extensive reshaping of my femoral neck, cleaning up cartilage, micro fractures, PRP injection and the creation of a new labrum from allograft tissue.  I was extremely impressed by Dr White - he made a narrated video of the procedure that he left with me so I can see exactly what they did.  The labrum they built for me looks awesome.  Dr White and his crew have this procedure completely dialed - it is no wonder he considered the best at this type of procedure.  

A big difference from the last two scopes by Dr Seng is that I stayed in hospital overnight this time.  My reservations about this proved unfounded - it made a huge difference being able to immediately get into a motion machine and have IV pain killers for the first evening.  

Having a catheter made the first evening much more enjoyable than the last two procedures.  Catheter removal on the other hand....

Midway through Day 2 as I type this and feeling alright.  Still on two types of pain pills, but have very little, if any, discomfort.  I am strapped to the CPM and ice machines at present and look forward to starting PT on Monday.  

I am very glad I bit the bullet and got this surgery out of the way.  The anxiety pre op is always worse than the reality post and I am happy to be moving onward and upward.
