▲1955 Citroën DS19 I remember as a car-mad boy when this car was first launched and its 1st appearance on the street. There was very little to compare. However, Studebaker had made a similar impression in 1953 with their Starliner hardtop coupes. Both cars were design victories and stood out like no others. ▼1953 Studebaker Commander Starliner

1961 Citroën DS 19,
From September 1959, the DS front wings were fitted with cooling vents for the engine bay, which quickly became known as " ashtray " wings. These deal with heat from the exhaust silencer which built up under the bonnet. This issue was remedied in 1962 which led to the disappearance of these famous 'ashtrays'. Models of this vintage are particularly sought after by collectors such as Richard Romagny who acquired this example in 2020.
