cmd post playoffs loss '26

a little snippet of something I'm kind of working on

 “Tell me if it hurts,”

   Connor nods wordlessly. The trainer’s gentle hands flutter towards his ankle. He’s used to… tune-ups - a professional athlete’s body is not entirely their own, of course - but this feels like overkill. That is, until the smallest bit of pressure sends pain crackling up his leg. Connor grimaces. He’s met with a pitying look that he dismisses with a small shake of his head. 

   He needs to push through it he needs to push through it he needs-

   A break. 

   He spends the rest of the session with his eyes squeezed shut.

  When he slips out, he closes the door softly behind him and finds himself instinctually reaching for his phone. Maybe Cam finally got around to giving him a call. Oh. Or not. At least he texted on Thursday. 

   Cam’s still busy with his actual job, loser.

      While Connor’s here talking to himself like he’s a teenager again. Great. 

      He tucks his crutches under his arms and limps off down the long, grey hallway.
