Imagine.
Rant on Henry's mini-speech after being beaten in dsaf 3
The first thing he says after being beaten is: "... I don't understand. I'm the protagonist." When I was playing dsaf 3 and doing the boss fight, I paused at that part. I was like 'Oh, cool, fucking asshole narcissist.' Now that I have time to think about it, I can make a few assumptions. Henry either doesn't know what he's doing is wrong (unlikely, but possible) or he justifies what he's doing for the sake of science. He defends his manipulation, murder, and general atrocities for the sake of learning. To expand human knowledge.
He's delusional. He's a manipulator who is so lost in his own false beliefs of doing what he's doing 'for science' is okay that he thinks he's the good guy in all of this. The main character. The protagonist. He continues on by stating 'He always comes back' once being told that they've won. He feels his influence on the world- His science has been so important that he can't be forgotten.
And honestly, in his situation, I can see why. He won't be. He'll always haunt them, forever, if he still lives on in the void, if he clings to his body like Dave did, or if he's fully dead and can't return. He'll always haunt them. He'll always come back as a reminder of what happened to them. He says: "And yet, my influence- The culmination of my being... I leaked into your world. Go ahead, let me DIE. I'll be back. I always-" Presumably he was going to say I always come back before being cut off by Dave. He knows he can't be forgotten, he knows he's going to live on forever if that's actual eternal life or through his legacy. Which is what he wanted the whole time. In all honesty, if I can sum up the Henry boss fight, it's "You may have won the battle, but I have won the war."
This game has to stop making me so emotional. I’m not crying you’re crying >:(
