Project 3 | A "diagram" of which I honestly don't know, what I want to communicate
Diagrams and Review
Project 3 | Summary
As I was glad to have something to start from (the hip) I really wanted to concentrate to show what I see within my joint. But most of my project I was thinking in the totally different direction. When I saw how far I was gone away from my idea and the principles that I wanted to communicate (a simple harmonic object that explains and presents movement) I reworked my thinking.
My final form wants to communicate these essential movements from the hip – opening and rotation. Both of these movements are very limited but we can basically guess how much limited they are. That’s why choose to partly hide the limitations.
The interface for this object is very simple and reduced but I think as this object can be used mostly by intuition this not a lack of design but a respect of peoples common sense. I think design should explain itself but also respect the user’s intelligence and curiosity.
I had considered using gears in my model some how at the start but I had decided that cutting these would be to difficult and wire wouldn't look aesthetically pleasing to the design.
