@penn-name gets killed in real life by @hommyguy during a card game
Just played some Dueling Book with a friend of mine for the first time
It reminded me why I refuse to play with anyone that started, or has continued playing, in the last 10 years.
It's no fucking fun.
I play classic, I keep it simple, because a match where the opponent can't do anything is no fun.
I'm out here summoning a level 4, placing some traps, ending my turn, sometimes I'll manage a fusion on turn 1 if my hand is good enough.
My friend over here is summoning an entire field of monsters and spells every single turn just because he can, and reading off an encyclopedia's worth of effects off every single card.
It's no fucking fun to fight, I can't do anything.
"Oh just make a stronger deck-" fuck you, I want to play a game where both players have chances to do shit, and not a game where both players are doing their absolute damnedest to stop the other one from ever playing a single card.
If my opponent and I aren't BOTH losing half or more of our LP before the end, it's a shit match, and I won't bother with it again.
I'm sat here playing with custom decks for fun, because I want to have nice, chill, fun games, and he comes in with a comp deck playing like there's blood on the line.
Fuck that.
My experience with Yu-Gi-Oh as a new player.
Hello, players, observers, fans, whatever you want to be called. I’ve very recently gotten into the Yu-Gi-Oh scene online. I hadn’t made my deck yet, so I go to make it, and I see a list of cards spread among 475 pages, 20 cards per page, except maybe the last page. I’m sitting there, impressed, getting fat from all the sitting I’m doing, and I grab all these pretty looking cards. Boom, deck built, right?
Of course, technically, yes, if you have 40 to 60 cards you’re golden. However, if you go to view the rated section of this website, everyone is playing the same two decks. To my understand, this is called “Meta”. Meta is when a deck is super popular because it’s inherently better than other, lower tier decks. At this point I’m thinking “over 9,000 cards, and only four to five hundred hundred are good because no one else is using these. I’m probably just bad.” This is the denial phase.
I’m now approaching bargaining phase. I’m not at angry yet. I’m hoping that maybe these good cards make these worse cards better. I’m thinking, “Well, maybe the worse cards are meant to enhance or be enhanced by the better cards.” Oh no, no, no, mon cheri. These cards are destroying your field, letting your opponent go 10 cards in their hand and doing their taxes on the same turn.
Now I’m at the depression phase. I’m wondering why I’m here, why the community is awful and why cards cost your house and a brand new G wagon. I’m an online player, so the cost is okay, no impact on my life at all. Okay, it’s over.
I was wrong. Now the award winning community. These are examples, and not every one falls under this category. However, the minority is a lot louder than the majority. You have perverts, catfishes(I think), and people who just want to hurt you.
I’ve accepted my fate. Heil orange Jews.
