If they don’t play Gaivota at my funeral, then I’m not going.
I went dancing in my boat Out in the ruthless sea And the roaring sea Says that I went out to steal The unequalled glimmer Of your beautiful eyes Come and see if the sea was right Come here and watch my heart dance If I dance in my boat again I won't go out to the ruthless sea Nor will I tell it where I Went to sing, to smile, to dance To live, to dream... Of you!
Music rec of today and kinda continuing on my "music for High-fantasy Luso-Brazilian Pirates" post - this STUNNING live version of "Canção do Mar" (Song of the Sea) by Dulce Pontes. I've known this song ever since I wasa kid really, because it was used as the opening song of a Brazilian telenovela back in the 90s, so I really love it! This style of music is called "Fado" (meaning "fate/destiny") and it's a traditional music style from Portugal. It's very similar to the Irish traditional music in the sense of how it conveys melancholy, grief and sadness, lots of them about the sea and the sailors' lives lost in it, really fascinating how there's this parallel. Specially this singer here, BRO, she DELIVERS SO HARD. I've never seen her singing live before, and I was out of fucking words, she's AWESOME. ANYWAY, follow me for more japanese idols and traditional Portuguese music. I guess. sdkfhsd
