Cho and Harry were two people who just didn’t understand each other, and that’s okay. Harry had zero empathy for her, but it’s normal to have no freaking clue how to handle these kinds of situations when you’re 15. He was a kid, it was his first date, and clearly, he was kind of an ass—but it doesn’t really matter because we all understand that he didn’t have bad intentions, he was just a bit clueless, like most people his age when they first start dating.
The thing is, defending Harry doesn’t require being a misogynistic piece of shit and attacking Cho. And honestly, I feel absolutely disgusted when I see hate posts about Cho, especially when that hate comes from women. Like, what the hell is wrong with these people?
Cho Chang lost her first boyfriend at 16. She had to confront the trauma of his murder, go back to school, and try to rebuild her life—without anyone even giving her a damn therapist. She hoped she could share that trauma with Harry since he was the last person to see Cedric alive, but it turned out that Harry deals with his shit in a completely avoidant way, which didn’t help her at all.
She had moments of jealousy like any teenage girl, she had emotional instability like any human being who has just gone through a horrible trauma, and no, she didn’t betray the DA—she was loyal to her friend. Because yes, Marietta Edgecombe screwed up, but when your friends mess up, you support them and defend them no matter what.
What Cho showed wasn’t that she was a traitor, but that Marietta mattered more to her than any of the random people in the DA—because Marietta was her friend, period. And attacking her for that is just attacking women for having feelings and caring about their female friends, and honestly, that’s pure misogyny. You should be fucking ashamed.
