Part II: Duolingo

I really wanna be nice to duolingo here. It's a wonderful app that has genuinely helped me learn a lot of Greek and Spanish, and I'm sure it's helped many others as well.

But that's not the case with Duolingo Latin. "Incomplete" is the nicest description I can find. This tree might give you some examples of Latin sentences if you're a beginner, or give you content to meme if you're more advanced, but that's it

Pros:

Easily accessible

Friendly & familiar to most people

Some sentences are genuinely hilarious

Cons:

uhh it kinda sucks overall??

The pronunciation is horrid - you're better off with sound muted

No macrons??? what??

The course is too short and incomplete, barely covers basic stuff

Vocab is all over the place

Doesn't explain any grammar at all

Final verdict: 2/5

Tips:

Don't rely on Duo for latin. Like, at all. Try using it as a side thing to learn some fun new words, or to get some practice in when you don't have the spoons to study normally. But don't use it to actually learn stuff

So, I though I would finally try the Duolingo Latin course, after studying this language for 5 years, 'cause why not? And I'm loosing it at the way some words are pronounced, like, hearing Latin spoken with an English/American accent is the weirdest thing
