"Commodore Highwind," Durans greeted Aranea with a respectful and firm salute. "I had a request, if you have the free time. If we could organize a joint training regimen between my squadron and one of your naval fleet, I'd appreciate it. They've been getting a bit arrogant and need to apply what they've learned, show me that they can unite and carryout basic teamwork skills with another unit. If you must, feel free to embarrass them utterly- A bit of humility would serve them well."
The dragoon had been overseeing someroutine maintenance work being done to her ship – carried out by her guys, asusual. No one outside her unit messed with the red magitek carrier fromcommodore Highwind if they valued their lives, but since this meant less workfor the regular maintenance crew, it wasn’t usually a source of complaints.
Durans’s voice captured her attention, thewoman pivoting to meet the other officer and tilting her head in an informalacknowledgement. Aranea started to listen to him with a neutral face, but bythe time he had finished, she had a feral grin on her features and the two menworking just behind her had stopped their tinkering for a bit, going wide-eyedat Durans.
“Honey, if you’re after my heart, that’sone hell of a start,” she said, climbing down the ramp to meet the other man atthe ground, a gesture of her hand setting her guys into motion again – Araneaknew they were deeply interested in the rest of their conversation, but shedidn’t mind. Her men were probably all masochists to stand to work with her, inthe eyes of many other commanders – but they had gone through a lot of thingstogether. They knew Aranea had their backs, always. Their hard work would be recognized.
The poor guys serving under Durans, however…They’d learn a thing or two. Probably would heed every command of his once shewas done. She wasn’t the imperial bitch for nothing, after all.
“I can always make some time for a good,old-fashioned teaching session. It should be fun,” she added with a wink, throwing a strand of silver hair over her shoulder. “Now tell me, are you gonnabe there as well? The bigger the crowd, the better I work.”
