I'm never ascending Gale in this playthrough BUT That doesn't stop me from wondering what kind of ending they would've gotten if he did ascend. Which works as a corruption ark with Dr. Vrach's story of embracing humanity and rejecting his divinity as a bhaalspawn. Godhood was pretty much his life goal pre tadpole, though, maybe less of a corruption and more of a return to the original plan. Also I finally figured out his outfit, only 2 more redesigns left, yeehaw

Sharing something from ch. 3 (Almost Home).

First 3 chapters almost done, but I'm waiting to have more ready (at least 6) before posting anything. Wish me luck! 😅

He shook his head "Not a Lord anymore, I'm afraid. Maybe he should count himself lucky they did not want him straight up dead instead, after all he did to this city. Citizens will be entitled to take what's left of his estates and belongings as compensation. No honors, no legacy left, no memory to be carefully preserved. Nothing. His name will probably end up forgotten, left to rot in some archive, at best. They say time will probably turn out as an even crueler tyrant than he ever was".

Of course, time. The one thing she was slowly running out of, given the approaching deadline.

And now even that last thread of hope appeared to be slowly fading away.

No one left behind. The end of a cycle, history for once not doomed to repeat itself endlessly, but finding closure instead, hopefully a definitive one, to whatever blurry edged tangle of shadows her past life had been.

"And what about me?" she asked

He looked almost surprised "What do you mean?"

"They spoke about another monster holding the city in its grip. Please don't pretend you did not hear them before. You know who they were talking about".

He gently scolded her "Now, please stop summoning ghosts from your past. We already talked about that, and we reached an agreement, am I right? No need to dwell on the past anymore, no need to evoke bitter memories or disturbing shadows. Nobody here sees you as a monster. All they can see is the person who saved them, who freed them from oppression. Their hero".

"Yes, but most of them still ignore that person is the same who once plotted to enslave and sacrifice each one of them. Would they still love me if they knew all the truth?"

"There is no such truth anymore"

His words sounded final, like the rattling of keys sealing forever a doomed vault expected to never be opened again.
