today’s rat roundup

during today’s roam session, marlo found five pieces of paper (including a program for a high school production of footloose and the first sheet of fantine’s death which I’ve had since high school), dragged them across the room, managed to jump into the cage with them, and stored almost all of them in one corner by a tissue box.

neither penne nor any of the babies can figure out how to get to the floor from the bed. I anticipate penne figuring it out soon, but the babies might be too little. ziti’s been hanging out in the cage because she’s had a healing abscess since before we got her and tussling with the other four rats might exacerbate it. she’s not at her best so she’s a bit defensive.

of the core four, speed racer is, oddly enough, the most aggressive towards the new rats. she’s so sweet to people but she has a beef with every single one of the newbies. she’s been fighting penne AND the babies a lot. and lilac, actually. I guess she’s trying to become Top Rat. marlo is probably the friendliest with the new rats, and jetpack does well with them. lilac doesn’t spend a ton of time with the.

they are all very cute and I love them.
