I have three cats I adopted last November (my first pets!) and my boyfriend moved in bringing his cat with him. They are doing great and are healthy and happy. We have a vet we planned to take them to, but as the cats were all fine we never set up any sort of account or appointments with them. Now my boyfriend and I are moving from the east coast to the midwest soon, and it's a solid 2 day car trip. None of our 4 cats travel well. I read that a mild sedative is best for cats who don't do well in cars on long trips. Would it be awkward to cold call and request an appointment for sedatives soon before we move or should I call them ahead of our move and set up a client account even If we will be here another 2 months?
I would get them all seen and as you are making the appointment, tell the receptionist that you are moving in a couple months and want to get your cats all checked out ahead of time and at the time of the appointment tell the vet that they don’t do well with even short car rides, and do they have anything advice to help and any medications that might make the trip easier for them.
