What are your top five favourite movies?

This is kinda hard for me to answer dustbinhoffman, because I’m kind of a Holden Caulfield when it comes to movies. I don’t like a lot of movies, they have to be wicked good for me to say they’re a fave. With that said, here’s five that come to mind when I think of faves, in no particular order:

The King and the Clown SO BEAUTIFUL SO EMOTIONAL SUCH TIGHT STORYTELLING I CRY EVERY TIME

Hedwig and the Angry Inch I was one of the kids who needed this film to exist when I was younger. I don’t watch it very often because it’s kinda too emotionally overwhelming. Same goes with listening to the soundtrack.

Clerks Just…the fact that it was made on such a tight budget in between actual work shifts and it’s hilarious and well-written and there needs to be more films like this.

The Living End One of the first truly independent films I experienced and one of the first queer-directed films about queer life I had ever seen. After a rewatch, the acting isn’t exactly on point but what I’ve always loved about this film is that it’s a film where the queer main characters don’t end with tragedy. And the soundtrack kicks ass. Also, a homophobe gets his head smashed in by a giant 90s boombox. 

Waking Life It’s pretentious as hell but also just as profound. I get some new spark of thought every time I watch it. Because it's watching and listening to people talk, it feels more like a book than a movie to me, and I love that feeling. I've always been particularly fond of this scene.
