Just like nearly everyone else, I'm getting really worn down from grinding for oil, so I decided to take a break by trying to figure out when this final tunnel is likely to be completed.
I started by measuring about how much time it takes for the progress bar to tick up by one "point" (0.1%). I repeated this process for 8 points to get a more accurate result. Given the time it takes to refresh the page and hit the lap button on my stopwatch, the times I collected should be accurate with a 3-second margin for error.
Here's the data I collected:
70.0% --> 70.1% = 2min 15sec 70.1% --> 70.2% = 2min 35sec 70.2% --> 70.3% = 2min 49sec 70.3% --> 70.4% = 2min 54sec 70.4% --> 70.5% = 3min 04sec 70.5% --> 70.6% = 3min 04sec 70.6% --> 70.7% = 3min 33sec 70.7% --> 70.8% = 3min 28sec
So on average it takes about 3 minutes to go up by 1 point. By the time I finished calculating the average, the bar had reached 71.0%, which means there was still 29.0% left to go, or 290 points. The time was 13:40 server time. At 3 minutes per point, it would take 870 minutes to fill the bar, or about 14.5 hours, which leaves completion time at around 3:00 - 4:00 server time tomorrow morning.
This is assuming the average of 3 minutes remains consistent, which I don't think it will. I expect it might get faster later this afternoon when people start to get off work, and after dinnertime for most people. Progress will likely slow down late in the evening as people settle into bed, but as we get into the 90.0% - 100.0% rage I expect it might pick back up depending on everyone's levels of excitement. I plan to repeat this experiment later today to try and get a more accurate estimation.
