When Dustin's college classmates ask about Steve he just says that's his brother bc it's easier than explaining their relationship. And it's basically true anyway.

Because you can actually find reasons for Steve's (fucking former high school king) friendship with the other kids. Mike is his ex girlfriends little brother so it must be easy for Mike to found something to use aginst him to make sure he would give rides to him and his friends. Or use him to get into cinema like sure Steve actually looks like he likes them or at least fond of them BUT c'mon why would a guy like him would be friends with nerdies kids ever exist without any other thing. But Dustin, Dustin ruins this theory because Steve CLEARLY loves him, literally yells when he saw him and does the nerdiest fucking handshake you ever saw with your two eyes AT PUBLIC. type of shit he would %100 make fun of if he saw it in high school. And you can't find an explanation for it because it's so obvious that he's friends with this kid completely out of his own volition. Imagine how confused you would be lol

this isn't captured well in screenshots, but underrated Dusteve moment is the fact that Dustin starts shaking his head in panic before Steve even finishes explaining his thought because he already knows what Steve is trying to say

Jonathan keeps being like what?? what are you trying to say?? and Dustin is already preparing himself for Steve driving full-speed at the gate because they understand each other that well

also he has no excuse to act all panicked as if he WOULDN'T come up with a plan that reckless

Steve literally shouting for Dustin and standing up to block his Mom and everything, I can just imagine Claudia Henderson in the pink behind Steve giving him a moment and then being like ‘Steve dear please sit down the rest of us want to see’

Dustin is insanely clingy but he's also an angsty teenager, so whenever he wants physical affection he'll hug Steve or hold onto his hand, but because he can't be normal about it he just starts biting him, like cats do whenever you try petting them for too long

Funny that in s5 when Dustin and Steve are arguing and Jonathan is trying not to listen to them, Dustin says "shockingly enough I think your mom could prevent a power surge" which implies to me that Dustin has met at least one of Steve's parents, and also thinks she is a fucking idiot. This is also when Steve starts yelling, make of that what you will.
