Angel - Who are your biggest musical influences, & how have they shaped your style?
Rick - When I was younger, I was really into classic rock, especially all those great ’70s bands from the UK like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, & a bunch of the other big names from that era. That music had a huge impact on me and really shaped the way I hear & feel rock. Later on, I discovered the music of Frank Zappa, & that really opened up a whole new world for me. He looked at music from such a wide angle & wasn’t afraid to experiment. Some of what he did is just pure genius. He definitely opened my ears to thinking about music in a different way. In the end, I guess my style is a mix of everything I picked up along the way.
Angel - What’s something you listen to that might surprise people, given the music you make?
Rick - Rock is definitely my main thing, but I also like dipping into some soul or funk from time to time.Angel - What’s a non-musical skill, hobby, or obsession in the band that has secretly shaped your music?Rick - Orion & I both love comic books & science fiction, & sometimes that sneaks into the lyrics, which ends up influencing the music too. That's the only thing that occurs to me.
Angel - Who in the band would survive a zombie apocalypse the longest—and why?
Rick - Probably me, I’ve been counted out a million times, but I always come back. Or Thom, he’s the youngest, so he’s basically built to outrun zombies & everyone else.
Angel - Where can people watch RVH Project live in 2026?
Rick - We’ve only lined up Dutch dates so far, but we’re hoping to play other parts of Europe soon too.
Angel - What are your favorite venue(s) to play shows at?
Rick - Festivals are fun, but I really prefer smaller clubs, nothing beats the energy of a small club with perfect sound

Angel - How would you describe RVH Project as coffee?
Rick - Dark but not burnt. Bold, expressive, layered, & a little unexpected :)
