imagine being dutiful in fool’s errand when fitz is like please get behind me then flies into a berserker rage and massacres literally 30 people in a dead end tunnel to protect him like ok he didn’t think this guy was normal or sane at any point but then his friend/master/whatever has to step right in front of him while his sword is still swinging bc fitz is not personally capable of defusing the situation and is like fitz stop killing everyone!! haha just give him a second he just does this sometimes lol. and then fitz does actually stop and now the whole situation is just fckin mind boggling. dutiful is really the only person to witness firsthand the insanity of their dynamic until assassin’s fate

Dutiful and Fitz's first meeting, and the way their relationship begins with total animosity. Fitz gets so offended his son would make eye contact with him and also compare him to Chade lol

And then the total opposite as Dutiful idolizes Fitz, and then starts to realize he is just a flawed human

Dutiful and Fitz's backwards power dynamic, where the son exerts authority over his father. And he also does the same to his own sister, because he can never know his parentage. So Fitz resents Dutiful's exertion of authority over him, but Dutiful doesn't understand why their relationship is the way it is. He wanted a father, Fitz was unwilling. But the fact that Fitz is his father is the biggest obstacle in their relationship.
