Tragicomedy in ROTE

Patience tripping over a dog, breaking a vase, and slamming her forehead on Fitz's chin while wailing "It's not fair! You should have been mine!"

Chade's one-sided, unreciprocated father-son relationship with Fitz

Fitz's one-sided, unreciprocated son-father relationship with Burrich

Dutiful's one-sided, unreciprocated son-father relationship with Fitz

Kettricken's warped view of her and Verity's relationship based on Fitz's intervention, thinking the Queen's Garden will fix their relationship

Fitz being a proxy for Kettricken's and Verity's courtship

Molly's life is defined by her own toxic father so she just marries Fitz's slightly less toxic father. Bad dad? Just marry a new one

Shrewd is killed because of his folly, Chivalry is thrown off his horse, Verity deceives Fitz before going into his dragon, Regal has an ignoble death, Desire poisons herself, Chade can't hide in the dark when he dies. And Fitz dies surrounded by his family that he doesn't want there. And Beloved only realizes he is beloved at the very last moment.

Swift and Fitz being so defiant to Burrich, unwittingly being his mirror image

Starling getting cheated on

Fitz not realizing Starling was in love with him. (And Jinna, Molly, Kettricken, the Fool...)

The Fool carving Fitz's face into Paragon, getting mad that his eyes are blue, defending his nose, calling Fitz his "one true love", and then Fitz meets Paragon

Fitz not noticing how prideful the Fool is of the little posies Garetha puts on his tray. He twirls the flowers around, bemused. Then he pins them to his shirt with so much joy and pride. He never connects the dots until the quarrel.

Fitz willfully ignoring the Fool's feelings for him for 8 books

The whole scene where the Fool reveals his name to Fitz

The Fool's entire personality change after Fool's Assassin

Everything with the Fool! Tragicomedy is the only way to define him!

Nettle romanticizing Shadow Wolf in her mind and being disappointed by Tom Badgerlock

Nettle never truly getting to know Fitz his entire life, everything she learns about him is from other people and his accidental Skilling

Dutiful and Fitz's first meeting, and the way their relationship begins with total animosity. Fitz gets so offended his son would make eye contact with him and also compare him to Chade lol

And then the total opposite as Dutiful idolizes Fitz, and then starts to realize he is just a flawed human

Dutiful and Fitz's backwards power dynamic, where the son exerts authority over his father. And he also does the same to his own sister, because he can never know his parentage. So Fitz resents Dutiful's exertion of authority over him, but Dutiful doesn't understand why their relationship is the way it is. He wanted a father, Fitz was unwilling. But the fact that Fitz is his father is the biggest obstacle in their relationship.

The first conversation Beloved and Fitz have about Bee being their child

Fitz fist fighting his own guardsmen

F&F Fitz being generally old and feeling out of touch and isolated as the world he once knew disappears and so many of his loved ones die. He can't navigate the world alone anymore but he can't accept that.

Bee being an aspiring spy and Fitz's response is to spy on her spying on him

Beloved finally reuniting with her best friends, just to be forced to nuke their relationship by kidnapping them on Paragon

Bee hating Beloved and almost dooming both her fathers, then finally yelling at Beloved to get him to go to Fitz

The entire end of Assassin's Fate. Worms and gawkers and a family that doesn't seem to care at all about Fitz's comfort and wellbeing, only in appearing proper (Nettle)

Kettricken having to watch another Farseer she loved go into a stone, without her

Beloved and Bee never repair their relationship

Fitz, Dutiful, Swift, Hap, Nettle, Bee all being cursed because they are their parents

Fitz remembering all of his friends names, including the little puppies he played with as a child. But he walked among the men and women he grew up with in Buckkeep for years, unrecognized

In his final days he feels more connected with Spark, Per, and Hap than Dutiful and Nettle

Everyone thought Fitz and Beloved were involved for decades, literally most of their lives, and Fitz fought that until the very end, when he basically confirming the theory. But they missed out on potentially decades they could have been together, or at least honest with each other

Fitz and Beloved were only together and friends for like 6 years total
