For Nalyn: What’s a surefire way to make him get flustered?

Kindness. Genuine kindness. And to show interest in him as a person, not as a piece of meat essentially. Poor man has Issues lol but mostly: a great lack of self-esteem. So treating him like he has value... yeah. He may not always get flustered, you gotta pick your moment, but if he's made himself vulnerable and then you hit him with kindness? He will melt.

For Corvis: What does he find irresistible in others?

That is actually an excellent question and I'm not sure 😂. We've never really considered that, and even he can't really tell me there's anything he wouldn't be able to resist.

Though, considering he's a healer, one thing he'd be unable to resist in a wholly different context than the one of the ask game is: people in need. Which, I suppose, is part of what attracted him to Nalyn cuz the man was/is a walking Need Flag. XD

For Dwyn: What is his courting style? How would he woo someone?

I literally went oohoohoohoo reading the question because oh lords where do I begin with this one. That is a spicy question indeed, in more ways than one lol

Dwyn doesn't court. He observes, learns, calculates, and adapts. So he will change his way of doing things according to the woman he has in front of him. Though he won't make it too complicated for simplistic girls, but for stronger women worth the chase? Play and manipulate and learn them inside and out until his adapted behaviour leads them to naturally fall into his grasp. No one can resist him, he says.

So his style is the use of extremely high self-confidence and psychopathic observation skills to offer the illusion of the 'perfect' partner for his chosen prey. ... XD;

stealing this from @lizardperson [here] because reading about Helena triggered the psycho in my head, he wants attention now.

fandom (or og story): og world, Aeyuu

full name: Dwyn

gender: definitely male, but at his age 'gender' is a notion that holds no more meaning. Plus he could pass off as a woman if he wanted to.

pronouns: he/him

age: somewhere around 2500yo

species: vampire

race/ethnicity/class: Dwyn used to be a human like any other, save for being born afflicted by a rare blood disease. He grew up an alchemist, essentially raising himself into meeting his own basic needs. And damn good at it.

describe them physically: this changes past a certain point, but most of his life he was unnaturally pale, nearly white, with eyes of a deep, dark shade of blue. Tall (1m86 or so), gaunt, long white hair, he looked to be somewhere in his mid-40's. Likes to keep his nails long and sharp. And to show off his quadruple fangs with grins that remind you the old, feeble-looking guy can actually snap you like a twig.

describe how they dress: more often than not he'd wear whatever he found that he liked. Most fond of robes for the flow of them (he does have some diva in him), but he could dress more inconspicuously if needed or on a whim. Garments don't make the man, he says.

favorite things: his work. Alchemy fires all the right parts of his brain, with the research, the testing, discovering new ingredients and mixtures… In time, this obsession shifted to include necromancy.

least favorite things: all that doesn't bring him enjoyment, which could and did fluctuate. His absolute least favourite thing is to not be in control.

hobbies: I would classify sewing as a hobby, as it was one of very few things that genuinely relaxed him. A non-demanding but satisfactory use of his brain, and hey, it meant he always had something to wear he actually liked. Aside from that: everything that brought a sense of enjoyment (again, could and did fluctuate, but some things were fairly constant like fine wine and watching sunsets (yes, really))

quirks: he IS a quirk. Whimsical and playful, yet also feral and deadly. You never know exactly what version of him you will get, nor will you ever be able to tell what goes on in the back of his head or when he'll decide to stab you in the back. I call him chaotically evil and that is exactly what he is.

what's up in the romance department: he doesn't do romance. Doesn't have the emotional capability for it, while also being capable of romantic gestures, but everything is a ploy to obtain what he wants - whatever it might be at the time. He did enjoy a whole lot of women throughout time, and a handful of dicks when he found one pleasing enough, but always with the end goal of enjoyment and thrill.

best qualities: he's highly smart and perceptive, manipulative, knows how to twist people's mind and deceive them. Though he would say his best qualities are his looks (lol sure)

worst flaws: Dwyn has no empathy. He wouldn't even call it a flaw but a gift. He will lie, cheat, deceive, kill, turn his coat in the matter of a single sentence, without a single ounce of remorse. Coupled with his constant pursuit for thrills and enjoyment, and a certain impulsivity, that made him one extremely hazardous individual to ever consort with.

would you say they're a good person: lol nope. He's a guilty pleasure of mine, sure, but gods the things he does that make me cry…

fears/phobias: another 'gift' received is that he has no fears. And even in the very very few instances that he did feel a sense of fear, it expressed itself as intense thrill. Dwyn fears nothing. He knows himself to be an apex predator, and though you'd be right to say he's extremely arrogant, he is so out of experience. Though, to my own amusement, when he later dies and becomes a necromancer, he does discover he actually fears something: total eradication. Yet, even in death, that expresses itself as a form of exhilaration, too short-lived to his taste.

tell us in a few lines how you got the idea for them/how they came to be: over a decade ago, I started writing the story of Devon and Sorasiehn. Got pretty far with it, then quit, because sure. In the second volume, which had them pursue some criminals as they often did, I wanted them to encounter another vampire… and this one ended up pretty snakey, powerful, smart; wrapped Sorasiehn round his fingers basically, though in the end it became clear that she cared a little bit more about Devon than she was willing to admit. I never forgot that vampire, but never did more with him. One day last year or so, I shared snips of that story with a close friend and one of her characters went "I want him" and SUDDENLY Dwyn exploded back to the forefront of my mind and he has not left me alone since then. This point is when he really came to be.
