Dylan Cromwell Piper is the literal opitime of the kid whose suppressed literally everything about themselves because they feel like it's their job to protect their parent(s) due to trauma/grief.

Edit: Adding to this, Because I've watched these movies five times in the last four days.

In Halloweentown, they've relatively just lost their father [I'd assume less than a year or so ago, idk why but I'd say a year ago]. Marnie is rebelling. Sophie isn't truly rebelling but she's getting more adventurous and testing boundaries [like kids do] So Dylan, the 'man of the house', steps into the adult role.

We see early in the movie that Dylan was actually excited to have Grandma Aggie read them a bedtime story, until he looked up at his mom's exasperated face and he reprimanded himself and changed his tune; then he used the thermostat to go to Marnie's room - where he got excited to be invited to listen to Grandma's story, although he questioned the validity of it and argued against literally everything Marnie said.

He seems to be the perfect caricature of the kid whose taking on too much and forgetting themselves in the process. He's seemed to have decided that because they lost their father he has to be the mature one.

Yes, in the later movies he's the nerdy one who doesn't use his powers much, but that still seems to stem from their mother still pushing back against them using magic. In Halloweentown High, when Gwen herself starts to use her magic regularly and has relaxed a lot more - Dylan seems to relax in his commentary about the stupidity of magic as well.

I think he's just a kid who made himself grow up too fast because he didn't know how to deal with losing his father.

If Aggie Cromwell is a couple hundred years old, it wouldn't be hard to wager that the Cromwell witches have some form of extended longevity, if not immortality.

So, Gwen was taught her abilities so likely she'd be linked to this longevity or immortality.

So if Marnie, Dylan and Sophie had never been trained in their powers, does that mean Gwen and Aggie both would've outlived the three kids?
