Whatever you want to call the inappropriate, unlawful, unethical, immoral behavior by SOME of the paid public servants who have failed in their duty to protect or serve …. All of it will end when it affects the white community with more frequency and severity. Don’t be fooled, white people are victims of police, but at much more infrequent rates. Notice, this man wasn’t shot on site and his wife wasn’t slammed to the ground when she exited the car without permission. I’m happy they were unharmed, and without a doubt the police were wrong and acted completely inappropriately. In my happiness that they are able to tell their story and hold their baby girl, I’m disheartened that many of our stories are told via hashtags because we don’t always survive traffic stops. Remember the war on drugs was the war on drug users when the users looked like me. When they started to earn like me and look like the couple in this video, it became the real war on drugs. Now we are a “State without StigMA” in Massachusetts, which means it’s not the drug users fault. We’ve decided to help them not incarcerate them. It’s a medical condition similar to cancer (MA Governor said that). Tell that to everyone still serving mandatory minimums. Shouldn’t we release and treat this? So, when ‪#‎TamirRice‬ is 12 year old Billy MacDonald of Arlington, MA (I’m NOT wishing this on any child but we’ve allowed police to self-police and that sometimes means lawlessness) we will have reform. When ‪#‎SandraBland‬ is Joe Smith of Newbury Street we will have policy change that allows access to every second of a persons time while incarcerated. When‪#‎JenniferAniston‬ is demanding we do better like ‪#‎JesseWilliams‬ did she will be offered roles and honorary degrees. There will be no petitions to have her fired (Silly rabbits must have forget who @ShandraRhimes is). “Time is the great equalizer for all of us.” Eventually it will be wrong to put 41 bullets into an unarmed man, regardless of race (yes, some people need to be told that’s wrong). It will be illegal to sodomize a man in police custody using equipment purchased with tax payer dollars (again, this is bad), and as a nation we celebrate the successful prosecution of anyone complicit when a persons spine is severed while in police custody. But, I fear none of that will happen until a good family like the Murphy’s of Needham, MA are mourning the loss of a child chocked to death on a public street in broad daylight by police. “Systems of oppression can’t stand if we do.” Clearly we’re not all standing together. ‪#‎StandUp‬
