Bates Motel (2013-2017)
Dylan got the money to save Emma’s life and got her the transplant then married her and had a child with her & loves her so much
someone for the love of god teach dylan gun safety
olivia cooke and max thieriot manip <3 / dylan & emma (dylemma)
it surprises me that in a show like bates motel dylan/emma is your favorite pairing considering your repeated profession to love messed up ships and how many messed up ships there are in that show. not hating just curious
Hm! You know, that actually kinda makes sense lol I do talk a big game about loving messed-up ships & then I go & like the ONE healthy & loving & fairly unproblematic pairing on a show about murder & incest xD Like - what's the truth, Rose? xD
Don't get me wrong - I am obsessed with all the toxic fucked up dynamics going on in Bates Motel. Norman & Norma are of course the heart of the show. & tbh Norma/Caleb was a really compelling dynamic that I found super interesting. Norma/Romero...(*prepares to get cancelled by the entire Bates Motel fandom*) ...never really appealed to me that much? I mean...I liked them okay & Romero played his part in the plot well & was an interesting enough character, the way he was repeatedly willing to go the extra mile for Norma, it just wasn't my favorite pairing of the show idk
Dylan was my favorite character. I just found him really compelling because he had such a tragic past. I know that Norma & Norman have a lot of trauma & the show focuses on that a lot, but Dylan was always left in the dust of Norma & Norman's fucked up codependency. He really had no one growing up & he still grew up to be a caring & good person. Then he had to find out that his parents were brother & sister & that his father raped his mother....I remember thinking about what an amazing actor Max Theriot is when he reacted to that. & Emma struggled so much too, I really never thought she would make it to the end both because of her health concerns & the danger of murder always around the corner. Dylan & Emma were two people whose lives looked very hopeless & they found each other & found solace & hope in each other & their happy ending among all the tragedy & horror of the finale felt like a tiny spark of hope for the audience. they just went through so much together & experienced so much trauma & heartbreak & I wanted them to be happy
I am a sap you caught me xD I think part of me likes pairings that stand out & amidst all the doomed relationships in Bates Motel, Dylan & Emma went against the grain. They felt doomed but they forced & fought their way toward a happy ending where they could heal & grow together & that’s compelling to me 💖

I will never forget how Bates Motel had Dylan realize how badly Emma needed new lungs and how he wasn’t willing to let her die, so much so that he committed a crime to save her life. To get her the money to pay for the organs she desperately needed.
