Prompted - Clarification

My half of an art-fic trade with byolaeka. I’m pretty sure she’s squealing in a corner right now.

He was where he’d been for the last few days when Dyn found Dorian. He’d hardly left his corner of the library, save to eat and sleep, and even that was questionable at times. Ever since they had returned from the Fade he’d stayed in the library and practically refused to leave, always stating that he was busy searching for something, though whatever it was he never seemed to find it.

When he decided to see if he would talk today, Dorian was once again browsing the shelves near what had become his corner.

“You have remarkably little here on early Tevinter history. All these gifts to the Inquisition and the best they can do is The Maleficar Imperium. Trite propaganda! But if you want twenty volumes on whether Divine Galetea took a shit on a Sunday, this is evidently the place to find it.” His voice oozed sarcasm and anger and Dyn had to hold back a groan. It seemed he was being like this again. Still. Creators, if he could just stop with the theatrics and talk to him already it would help speed things along nicely.

He huffed a sigh. “If I knew what you were looking for, maybe I could help.” His words held a double meaning, something he hoped Dorian caught on to so they could discuss whatever this was and move on.

“Hah! You?” Or not. “I rather doubt that.”

Dyn returned the look Dorian shot him. He’d had enough of his recent behaviour with him. He’d thought things were going well with them, yet suddenly he seemed to have turned on him, lashing out at him with his famous brand of passive aggressive comments. He most definitely did not appreciate having them turned on him and he wanted to know why.

Before he could question him though, Dorian seemed to have backed down. He sighed and shook his head, “I apologise. That was unworthy.”

“What is this about Dorian?”

The Altus paused for a moment. There was no avoiding this talk now. It had to happen, for both their sake’s.

He sighed again before replying and steeled himself. “When we fell into the chasm, into the Fade…I thought you were done for. I don’t know if I can forgive you for that moment.” Dorian had turned his back on Dyn, reluctant to meet his gaze. His eyes had shut, though why Dyn couldn’t say. The anger on Dorian’s face seemed to be vanishing before his eyes, melting into sadness. Creators, had all of this been a screen, an act to keep him at arm’s length so neither of the pair would get hurt any more than they already had?

“You were right there with me Dorian.”

“You made me think you were dead!” He almost shouted the words now. Dyn wasn’t sure, but the words seemed to be flowing freely now, whether Dorian wanted them to or not. “You sent me ahead and then didn’t follow. For just a moment I - I was certain you wouldn’t. I thought this is it, this is where I finally lose him forever. And that – well that just didn’t sit right with me.”

Dyn stared at him for a moment, unsure of how to process his words, nor of how to respond. For a minute it sounded like…

No. It couldn’t be that. He should not be so foolish as to get his hopes up and think like that.

So instead he pushed down the feelings welling to the surface and hoped his air of nonchalance was convincing. “And why is that?” He needed to know, Elgar’nan he needed to so badly, but he couldn’t show it. If he showed it then he showed he cared.

He couldn’t do that, not for fear of refusal. That alone would be a crushing blow to him, to them.

“Why? Well because – because,” Dorian exhaled a short, sharp breath. He turned to face Dyn again, a mixture of emotions playing on his face. Too many to read, Dyn quickly realised. “Kaffas, must you really ask?”

Before Dyn could keep up he found himself being pulled flush to Dorian’s body, his arms wrapping around him tightly. The Altus’ mouth met his with a fierce intensity Dyn had never seen from him before. His lips were insistent against his, teeth trapping his bottom lip and drawing a low moan from the elf. Dyn would never tire of kissing Dorian, but right now this was something else entirely. There was a new passion in him, an urgency he’d never felt from the mage before.

They parted far too soon, breath coming in ragged intakes. They each took a step back, allowing the other their space again. “Does that clarify things for you?”

“Not really,” exclaimed Dyn, just as confused as before, though now a little fuzzy headed too. Creators, he couldn’t think straight any more.

He looked everywhere but at Dyn for a moment, finally, reluctantly meeting his gaze. “Fasta vass, you’re really going to make me spell this out even clearer aren’t you? I – I think I care for you Dyn, and I am terrified I’m going to lose you. But, see the thing is, I don’t know how to deal with any of this. I wanted to figure it out, but it seems that’s not happening any time soon, at least not without some help from you.”

Dyn simply stared for a moment, unsure of how to respond. He was sure he was hearing things, and yet the vulnerable look on Dorian’s face now told a different story. Then, slowly, Dyn spoke. “I rather care for you too, as it so happens. A lot.” He exhaled a chuckle, watching as Dorian’s face softened at his words. As much as they had dreaded this conversation arising, it seemed it was necessary, for both their sakes.

“Perhaps we ought to take this conversation elsewhere? Somewhere more private. I’ve aired enough of my private life to this library as it is.”

Dorian motioned towards the door nearby, indicating for Dyn to lead the way. He did so, Dorian on his heels behind him, the pair making their way to Dyn’s quarters. They had a lot to talk about it seemed, amongst other things.

For all Reif winds Dyn up about how attractive she finds him and how much she wants to ‘take a ride on that’ (her words, not mine), if it ever came down to it she wouldn’t. He’s just too good a friend to take it further.

Dyn Lavellan - emmalath-amatusmeo's inquisitor is so adorable I had to try and draw him ^^

I've been wanting to do some fanart of other people's inquisitors for a awhile now so I did some to keep the exam stress away. ^^ I have plans to do more, I really like doing headshots. The one problem I had with this was finding people's inquisitors for reference. (Being on Mobile does not help) I would have really liked to do more of my mutuals. I had lots of fun messing around with different line weight and skin tones. These are all great people that I follow (and people that everyone else should too) and since I'm often a silent reblogger I might as well put something here.

I especially like how you portray Dorian and all the Dorian related things that you reblog is fantastic since Dorian is my favourite as well. ^^ So yeah, you are great and I hope you have a nice day/evening/night.

.. and before bedtime, i wanted to make a quickety quick drawing of one of the cutest male Lavellan I've seen on the internet, Dyn XD He's byolaeka' inquisitor, and he's really too cute.  And ofc he and Dorian are just a lovely couple ╰(✿´⌣`✿)╯♡♡♡♡
