Sometimes, we get brought up in environments that keep us attached to the dysfunctional behaviors in those around us. We feel compelled to be their "keeper", looking after them and making sure they don't cause too many problems for themselves or others.
This may give us a sense of satisfaction, making us feel like we're in control. However, another person's dysfunction is not our responsibility. Saving them from the consequences of their actions is not our responsibility. Protect yourself from their dysfunction.
It is okay to live your own life.
