Okaaaay this is a weird one. And illuminating-- no I suppose I Wouldn't like Osomatsu in all his forms. For example, if he was a weird old guy that let children into his home in exchange for pachinko balls, that'd be.......... yeah that'd do it for me tbh

Like you obviously Know This but when you use the tortoise & hare metaphor and add on that there are so many people above you, why bother? Well like. Then the story becomes about the fact that, one, if you're so concerned about the fact that you're so much worse than others, you have to remember that there are also fish and insects and other things that can't even move as fast as the tortoise. Then the other thing is, is that if you decide to opt out entirely, you never go anywhere

And like!! Of course you know that Osomatsu has made himself content where he is; he doesn't want to improve; he doesn't want his brothers to improve; he keeps himself in this nexus where everything stays the same and it feels like the time doesn't pass

Idk I don't think Osomatsu thinks of himself as having a defeatist attitude, but that's 100% what it is. He doesn't want to try because he doesn't want to be worse than everyone else. He thinks that if he stops "running the race", the loss & failure will not hurt him

It's different from Choromatsu's envy, as examined in the last episode. Choromatsu wants what everyone else has; and he can't find the drive within himself, the passion, to actually pursue something. Osomatsu just doesn't want to be the worst. Or rather, he doesn't want to be the worst by default. He can make himself the worst and that's fine, but he needs to have complete agency over it

I wanted to do a top 10 of my favorite lupin's episodes (now it's a top 30 LMAO) so i think i will post redraws with the name of the episode.

My fave episode from part 1 is "let's catch lupin and go to Europe" : it's a very fun episode, everyone has time to shine and i love zenigatta. This scene is at the end when poor sweet zenigatta see lupin and cie at the airport (i love everyone's pose specially jigen)
