Pia, I’ve got a question about the Patreon! I want to sign up for the $5+ tier. Is it $5+ PER chapter or $5 for the month? I want to read allll the things but even so, if it’s just per chapter then that’s fine and I’ll still pledge <3 This might be a stupid question, sorry!

Definitely not a stupid question, and I'm sure it's something other people have wondered about as well. :D

Okay so this is explained in the About section on the Patreon page (it's in the first paragraph!), but you get charged twice a month (though Patreon collects it as a single payment at the end of the month). So if you pick the $5 tier (the Augus tier), you pay $10. It's basically doubled.

You are not charged in the sense that you have to choose to 'pay to see individual chapters.' (As in like 'today I'm going to sign up for this chapter and this chapter, but not these chapters.') Patreon has never worked this way - it's based on the tier itself. As soon as you've signed up, you get access to everything that is there in that tier (and usually everything below that tier). Immediately. And you keep access to everything that comes out in that tier and below for as long as you're signed up.

(For those who want to know why I do it this way instead of per month, it's simply that if I get too sick to deliver on my Patreon rewards, I can keep posting and no one gets charged at all. On the old way of 'per month' - if I needed to not charge people, I had to put the Patreon on hiatus, and then I couldn't post or communicate with anyone at all. Since I'm chronically ill, I chose 'per chapter,' but it's not 'literally every single chapter' because I choose how many times that happens - so I can post 100 chapters each month (lol) and people will have access to those 100 chapters and still only pay for 2 each month). So it's a max of twice a month, every single time, and it's been that way for years).

(Also, you can cap your pledge / set a month limit at checkout, which means you don't actually have to pay $10 in the $5 tier, you can just pay $5 a month. For folks who are paying double in the $3 tier, I highly recommend you sign up for the $5 tier and cap your pledge. For folks who are happy paying $10 a month in the $5 tier, I highly recommend you sign up for the $10 tier and cap your pledge - if you scroll down here, you can see that Patreon talks about setting your monthly limit, highly recommend familiarising yourself with this! It's dead easy once you've done it :D )
